The Ask

DLUXX Hotel

Dluxx, a hotel owned by Thammasat University, served hospital visitors and exam students for 20 years.

High level goals

Dluxx Hotel has outlined their goals for our team:

Goal 1

Solution should be maintenance-friendly, requiring no additional staff for upkeep.

Goal 2

Generate extra revenue for the hotel as well as save the cost as much as possible

Goal 3

Must follow Thammasat university's vision which is to be sustainable and envrionmental friendly

Goal 4

Improve the overall experiences of the hotel guests

The Problem

Food and Coworking spaces

Primary research reveals that many Dluxx Hotel guests are university entrance exam takers who require ample study time. They frequently complain about the lack of food options within the hotel and surrounding area. Additionally, the absence of a coworking space for studying is a significant drawback for these guests.

The Opportunity

Farming rooftop, and local restaurants

It was found that Thammasat university offers abundant local restaurants, cafes, and a farming rooftop that produce fresh, seasonal ingredients, leading to an opportunity to create affordable food services for the hotel with little to no transportation costs.

How might we?

Meals and effort

How might we offer Dluxx Hotel guests convenient meal options and essential services to reduce time and effort traveling for nearby food?

Our concept

A sustainable hospitality concept that enhances the guest experience at Dluxx Hotel by integrating a co-working space (Luxx Space), self-service vending machines (TU Luxx), and locally-sourced meals (Luxx Meal).

Expected Impacts

Comparing our solution to the initial high level goals.

Low Maintenance

Since TU LUXX and LUXX Space are designed to be self serviced, additionally staffs are not required in terms of keeping and operating the cafeteria full time.

Low Cost

Using campus-grown ingredients and local vendors reduces transportation and ingredient costs, making food affordable for both the hotel and students.

Improve overall guests' experience

The 24/7 TU Luxx Meal vending machines provide fresh, locally-sourced meals and snacks, while a coworking space offers guests a place to study and relax.
